The Church of St Walburge in Preston in the Diocese of Lancaster is looking for our help. This church is staffed by Priests of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICKSP). Fr Francis, our Parish Priest, is an Affiliate Member of the Institute. You may have noticed the Coat of Arms of the Institute on our parish newsletter. It is also the featured image of this blog post.
Below is a a letter of explanation written by the Rector Canon Cristofoli about why we should try to support them.
My dear friends,
During the month of July, with the help of some of you, I completed an application to be nominated Church of the Year, receive a medal for the work undertaken and a cheque for £500. This competition is organised by NCT ( National Church Trust). We are now on a short list and an architect from NCT is coming next Wednesday to judge us against other churches.
*Why compete?*
Success would give us *excellent publicity* for further public funding.
Success will put our church and our community on the map: *evangelisation.*
Success will promote the North of England and the Catholic Church, which are not always well represented.
*I need your help!*
Can you :
Pray for this intention?
**Come to church on Wednesday morning 23rd August around 10am** and show your enthusiasm for St Walburge’s? Perhaps bring your children and family?
Thank you so much!
God bless you!
Canon Cristofoli
Rector of the Shrine
